Show Band Concert At Union Appeals To Large Crowd Response of the public to the band uniform concert held last week at Union High School was excellent and resulted in receipts re-ceipts of $251.80 toward the purchasing pur-chasing of new band uniforms, according to Clyde L. Johnson, band instructor. With this amount added to the net profit of the band carnival car-nival held at the school last fall, plus the $100 received from the UBIC and the $1000 which Union High student body will donate, it has been reported report-ed that approximately $300 more will be needed to order 60 uniforms. Total cost of the uniforms is approximately $3000.00. Mr. Johnson and his students, both band and chorus, are to be complimented for the fine performance per-formance presented, during the evening entertainment. Several marches, overtures and novelty numbers were played by the band, and six selections were sung by the Girls' and Boys' Chorus. A trumpet trio' was played by Lloyd Carlson, Carolyn Whiting Whit-ing and Nancy Rockwood, and a clarinet solo was played by Catherine Rowley. Accompanist Accompan-ist for the choruses was Marta Morrill. It is the hope of the instructor instruc-tor as well as the students that concerts can be sponsored in the future for the public's entertainment. en-tertainment.
