Show BRIDE HONORED Prior to her marriage on October Oc-tober 18, Miss Lorna Hamilton was the motif for a number of gay parties; among them being the miscellaneous shower given by members of the Gleaner Girls of the Roosevelt Ward. Staged at the Ethel Brown residence the event was enjoyed by Irene Blanchard, Shirley Meyers, Darlene Brown, Deloris Brown, June Fenn, Joanne Nelson Nel-son and Ina Hamilton. Friday evening Mr. and Mrs. Thure Carlson will be hosts at an informal reception honoring Mr. and Mrs. Sharon Anderson, at the Roosevelt Ward hall. NEIGHBORHOOD SEWING The Neighborhood Sewing club met Wednesday evening, October 11, at the home of Mrs. Guy Burton. An evening of sewing sew-ing and a tasty dessert luncheon were enjoyed by ten guests. CELEBRATES BIRTHDAY Ten glowing candles atop a daintily decorated green and white birthday cake,, formed the center of comment at the birthday birth-day party staged October 2 at the Elmer Eldredge residence when Burk Eldredge entertained a group of friends. Extending their heartiest congratulations con-gratulations were Beverly and Jackie Neilson, Bobby Killian, Kaye Labrum, Homer Cook, Pam and Gordie Harmston, Pam Murdock, Hayda McKinlay, Lorraine Lor-raine Laris, Gary Rhoades. WED IN HOME RITES Widespread interest attends the announcement of the marriage mar-riage of Miss Joyce Helen Swain, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. H. L. Swain, Roosevelt, to Raymond Ray-mond LaVern Pace, son of Mrs. Parley Timothy, Roosevelt. The marriage was solemnized in a ceremony performed October Oc-tober 14 at the home of the bridegroom's grandparents, Mr. and Mrs. Frank "Whitmore, of Neola. Judge Baumgaertel officiated. of-ficiated. ENGAGEMENT ANNOUNCED Mr. and Mrs. Alfred Morrill, of Myton, announce the engagement engage-ment of their daughter, LaRae, to Rodney Perry, son of Mr. and Mrs. Charles W. Jenkins, of Roosevelt. Miss Morrill is a junior student stu-dent at Roosevelt high school. Mr. Perry graduated from Roosevelt high school in 1948 and attended Brigham Young-University Young-University for two years. He is presently employed with the Bell Telephone Co., at Denver, Colorado. j FT. DUCHESNE WOMEN The regular meeting of the Fort Duchesne Women's club was held Thursday evening, October Oc-tober 12 at their club building, ' with fifteen members and two guests present. The club's study program for the year will be directed toward "Educating Our Youth Toward a Mature Generation." Thursday's Thurs-day's meeting was under the chairmanship of Mrs. Eva M. Haas, who introduced Captain William Avery of the St. Elizabeth's Eliza-beth's Episcopal Mission at Whiterocks. He carried out the theme by very capably expressing" express-ing" his thoughts on "Thorough Religion." Hostesses for the evening were Miss Florence Knapp and Mrs. C. E. Nichols. The club's activities for the year are being directed by the following officers: President, Mrs. Lon A. Logan; first, second and third vice presidents, respectively, res-pectively, Mrs. Forrest R. Stone, Mrs. Paul A. Krause and Mrs. Elmer Denver, Jr.; and secretary-treasurer, Mrs. Stanley Nebeker. The first meeting this season was held on September 8, with Mrs. A. F. C. Greene and Mrs. C. E. Faulkner as hostesses. DUP MEETING The Daughters of the Utah Pioneers will hold their regular meeting Friday, Oct. 27. at 3 p. m. at the home of Mrs. Mable Allen. All members and eligible members are asked to attend. MUSIC RECITAL A group of music pupils, under un-der the direction of their instructor, in-structor, Mrs. Clair H. Labrum, presented a piano recital at the Bruce V. Smith residence Friday Fri-day evening, October 13. Playing piano selections during dur-ing the evening were Karolyn and Carma Smith, Faye and Gilbert Gil-bert Hullinger, Ida Andrews, Kenneth and Colleen Squire, Karalyn and Pamara Roberts and Laraine Long. Parents of the music pupils and a few intimate friends were present. Light refreshments were served. TUESDAY BRIDGE Bridge formed the sociality at the home of Mrs. Robert Hu-ish Hu-ish Tuesday, evening when she was hostess to members of her club. Assorted bouquets of roses and chrysanthemums added an air of loveliness to the rooms where three tables were arranged ar-ranged for a dainty dessert luncheon. Bridge prizes were won by Mrs. Sam G. Weiss, Mrs. Wayne Malin, Mrs. Paul Wilkins. and Mrs. Lynn Orser. |
