Show County Asked To Make Bus Travel Safer At their regular monthly meeting held last week the board of county commissioners considered several recommendations recommenda-tions made by Dean C. Chris-tensen, Chris-tensen, superintendent of schools, that affect the transportation trans-portation of children by busses to the various schools in the county. Mr. Christensen asked that a check be made on school bus . routes -in the Myton area near the Dean and Richens homes and that they put the Duchesne river route in shape' to be used as a bus route. He reported the dugway from the bench, near Winslows, had been condemned for school bus travel by the safety committee of the state department of education. Another safety measure the commission was asked by Mr. Christensen to assume was participating par-ticipating in the cost of oiling the street from the main highway high-way in Duchesne north past the high school. He said the highway high-way patrol had cautioned school officials about using Highway 40 near the school for band practice, "If this block were hard-surfaced, it would serve as a parade ground and would eliminate a' traffic hazard that now occurs," he stated. Assurance Assur-ance that the state, school and city of Duchesne would participate partici-pate in the project was made by Supt. Christensen. The board appointed Com-misisoner Com-misisoner Lloyd to serve with E. L. Murphy of the school board and Mr. Christensen to study the Myton and Duchesne river road problems and deport back at a later meeting. Acting on the request of Dick Ellinghausen of the Carter Oil Co., the commissioners voted unanimously to issue quit claim deeds to John A. Gilbert at the rate of $2.00 each, on several sev-eral tracts of land in Duchesne county. This was done primarily primar-ily to clear the records of the county, Porter L. Merrell, county coun-ty clerk, reported. |
