Davenport was honored Wednesday afternoon when members and guests of the Friday Bridge club were entertained enter-tained at the home of Mrs. Homer Hom-er Robinson at a luncheon, followed fol-lowed by an afternoon of bridge. Present were Mrs. Davenport, Mrs. W. H. Linck, Mrs. Rex Lamb, Mrs. Bliss Lott, Mrs. R. H. Burdick, Mrs. W. R. Preece, Mrs. Robinson, Mrs. James Dalgleish, Dal-gleish, Mrs. W. R. Harris and Miss Alice Todd. Prizes were won by Miss Todd and Mrs. Dalgleish, Dal-gleish, while a guest prize was presented to Mrs. Davenport, who will leave soon to make her home in Los Angeles, Calif. Visitors at the home of Mr. and Mrs. J. H. McCarrell last week were their son J. McCarrell McCar-rell and their granddaughter and her husband, Mr. and Mrs. Norman C o 1 1 o m, and baby daughter, who came from Craig, Colorado, to spend a few days. Mrs. Lloyd DiBois and small son, who have been visiting her mother, Mrs. James Wilson, left Friday for Ogden where they joined Mr. DuBois on a vacation trip to New Orleans. The American Legion and Auxiliary, Wra. R. Sands Post and Unit 5, held their regular meetings at the Barracks Friday Fri-day evening. Commander Blaine Brokaw and President Florence Lott were in charge of the meetings. Plans were perfected per-fected for a membership drive. A special business and social meeting was arranged for Friday, Fri-day, October 20, with a special invitation for all members to be present. Classes in the Myton elemen-tar elemen-tar school were suspended Thursday and Friday of last week o faculty members could be present at the U.E.A. convention con-vention in Salt Lake City. Among the teachers who attended attend-ed the convention were Mrs. Iva i Adams; Principal Miller, "Grant Peel, Mr. Stout, Mrs. Glen Van-Tassell, Van-Tassell, Mrs. LaRue Burgess, Mrs. Jack Nielson and Mrs. Anderson. An-derson. Mr. and Mrs. Grant Peel and baby were called to southern Utah last week by the death of Mr. Peel's brother-in-law They returned by way of Salt Lake City so Mr. Peel might attend at-tend the U.E.A. sessions. Mrs. Rudy Krissman acted as substitute substi-tute teacher during Mr. Peel's absence. Mrs. Sadie B y w a t e r and daughter, LaRee, and Mrs. A. C. Tolboe spent Friday and Saturday Sat-urday visiting relatives in Provo. Pro-vo. Mrs. Homer Robinson went to Salt Lake City Thursday. She was accompanied by Mrs George Funk, Mrs. LaVor Dennis Den-nis and daughter, Sherry. Mr Robinson joined his wife Saturday, Satur-day, accompanied by Mrs. Robinson's Rob-inson's sister and brother-in-law Mr. and Mrs. Wilbur Wall, who came from Kamas to visit the Robinson family. Mr. and Mrs Robinson returned home Sunday Sun-day night, while Mr. and Mrs Wall remained in Salt Lake City to visit their nieces and nephews for a few days, before returning return-ing to Myton to spend some time at the Robinson home. Dr. and Mrs. Dalgleish and daughters, Anne and Marie, and Mrs. Dalgleish's father. Alec Bibson, of Salt Lake City, visited vis-ited Mr. and Mrs. James Dalgleish, Dal-gleish, Friday. Mr. and Mrs. Wm. R. Harris enjoyed a visit last week from Mr. Harris' uncle, Jim Kettle, and his cousin, Edwin Wood-house, Wood-house, both of Montrose, Colo Mr. and Mrs. Orville Warner, Warn-er, of Copperton, were Myton visitors, Saturday. Mr. and Mrs. 'jack Giles and Mrs. Wm. Harris spent the week end in Salt Lake City. Stephen Meranda and Tom ,Meranda came from American Fork Saturday to harvest the crops on the family farm. They were joined Sunday by their parents, Mr. and Mrs. Charles Meranda and Mrs. Meranda's brother and sister-in-law. Mr. and Mrs. Melvin Barker, and Mrs. Minnie Jensen and Wayne Jensen, of Salt Lake City. Mr. and Mrs. H. W. Davenport Daven-port will leave late this week for Los Angeles, Calif., where they will make their home. Mr. Davenport has served as Myton city marshall and water master for about a year. He will be succeeded by James Giles, who will take over the city duties, November 1. Mrs. Davenport has had charge of the Anderson Ander-son hotel during their residence here. Plans for the hotel management man-agement have not been perfected. perfect-ed. Visitors at the home of Mr. and Mrs. W. H. Linck last week were Mrs. Linck's brother, Levi Mortensen, of Salt Lake City, who was enroute to St. Louis, Mo. to get his wife, and Mr. Linck's father, Wm. Linck, of Salt Lake City, and his nephew. Milton Treu, of Long Beach, California. Frances Funk, who is attending attend-ing the U.S.A.C. at Logan spent the weekend with her parents, Mr. and Mrs. George Funk. She returned to her studies at Logan, Lo-gan, Sunday, accompanying Howard Allred, of Roosevelt, who is also a student at U.S.A.C. Mr. and Mrs. Harry Haskell, of Craig, Colorado, visited Mrs. Haskell's father, J. W. Jenson, Sunday, when enroute to Salt Lake City. |
