Show 2.3 Billion In M Life Insurance Payments Mmm Out By June 30 Payment of the $2.8 billion special National Service life insurance in-surance dividend to World War II veterans was virtually completed com-pleted on schedule, Veterans Administration Ad-ministration officials have announced. an-nounced. When this operation got under way last January 16, VA set. June 30 as the target date for paying the great majority of dividends to the more than 15 million veterans who held NSLI, or to those of their survivors sur-vivors who were entitled to the dividend payment. Veterans who have applied for the special dividend and have received their acknowledgment acknowledg-ment cards, but have not received re-ceived their dividend payments, will be contacted by the VA to let them know their applications are being processed and that their checks will be coming along shortly. Veterans will receive re-ceive this notification from the VA the forepart of July, and they are requested not to write to VA for information. Veterans who received an ac-nowledgment ac-nowledgment card, but get neither a check nor advice from the VA shortly after June 30, are advised to write to the Director Di-rector of the Special Insurance Project, Veterans Administration, Administra-tion, Washington, 25, D. C. Their letters should state that they have applied for the special GI insurance dividend, and that they have not received it. 111 VA asks these veterans to be sure to include in their letters the following information: full name the name used in the service; their correct, present address; service or serial number num-ber or numbers, if they had more than one; their insurance number or numbers; and the number that appeared on their acknowledgment c a rd s. With I this information, the VA can very quickly trace the records on their dividend payments and ; correct the causes for delay. I These delayed payments were caused by several things, VA said. A large number of veterans were found to have duplicate serial numbers, or duplicate insurance in-surance numbers. In the majority major-ity of cases, however, lack of identifying- information accompanying accom-panying the veterans' dividend applications has caused the de- lays. Some veterans moved with- ! out notifying their local post- j masters of their new address, j and their dividend checks came j back to the VA marked "address unknown." Those veterans who applied for the special insurance dividend divi-dend but who have not received i an' acknowledgment card, are j advised to send in another ap- i plication to the VA. Application ' ! forms are still available at post ! offices and VA offices. Fill the applications out carefully, including in-cluding all the information requested. re-quested. Be sure to print your name and address. Then mark "duplicate" across the top, and send them to VA. Acknowledgment Acknowledg-ment cards should be received in short order. |
