Show 87th Birthday Is Celebrated By Pioneer Resident In honor of the 87th birthday of Henry D. Allred, open house was held Sunday, July 20, at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Leonard Leon-ard Goodrich, in Bluebell. Mrs. Goodrich is his granddaughter, grand-daughter, and co-hostesses at the affair were her sisters, Miss Mary Stevenson, of Roosevelt, Miss Nell Stevenson, of Price, and Mrs. Lloyd Goodrich, of Bonanza. During the day 150 friends and relatives from near and far called to wish him a happy birthday. ' Mr. Allred was born at Spring City on July 24, 1865. a son of Green Warren and Ama Howes , AHred, both early pioneers of Utah. . , . On December 19, 1896 he wa3 married to Louisa. Zabriskie at Price. She . was a daughter of Lewis Curtis and Sarah Ann Park Zabriskie, early Utah settlers. set-tlers. They had seven children, two of whom are still living. Mrs. Irving Leonard, of Price, and Claud Allred, of Bluebe1'.. Upon the death of a daughter in 1918, and of her husband in 1920, Mr. and Mrs. Allred took into their home the five small orphan children to raise. Mr. and Mrs. Allred pioneered in Emery and Carbon counties and in 1907 came to the Uintah Basin, being among the early settlers in Bluebell. Mrs. Allred 'died April 5, 1940. Mr. Allred still lives ir. Bluebell. He is in good health and is noted for his exceptionally exceptional-ly fine vegetable garden and beautiful flowers. His recipe for a happy and long life is to keep busy. In addition to his two children, chil-dren, he has 24 grandchildren and 41 great-grandchildren. |
