Show Roosevelt Wards Set Plans To Observe July 24th A big July 24th celebration is being planned for Roosevelt and , surrounding areas, with a day crowded with activity for young and old alike, according to Paul Nelson, general chairman. A miniature parade will commence com-mence the day's celebration and will begin PROMPTLY at 9:00 a.m. from the City Park, where the parade will line up. According Accord-ing to Mrs. LaRue Laris, parade chairman, there will be a prize for the best float, best decorated bicycle or tricycle, best doll buggy and best character. There will be no special theme, with judging to be on beauty and originality. The parade will line up at the park, go down Lagoon Street to Main Street, north to 1st North, and back to the park. Parade entries are asked to remain re-main at the park until the winners win-ners are announced and pictures can be taken. All churches, organizations or-ganizations and individuals are invited and urged to place en tries in the parade to make it bigger and better than ever. Following the parade will be a program from 10:00 to 11:00 a.m. at the park for adults, which is being arranged by Mrs. Parley Rawlings, Mrs. William Sutteer and Mrs. Rex Curry. During the same hour, a film for children will be shown at the stake house. Children's activities activi-ties are under the direction of Rex Curry, Howard Gilbert, Mrs. Bill Edwards and Mrs. Hol-lis Hol-lis G. Hullinger. Children's and adults' games and races are on the agenda for 11:00 a.m. A ball game to be arranged by Kenneth Nickell will, be played at 4:00 p.m. and climax of the day will be a rodeo at the Rodeo Grounds at 8:00 p.m., sponsored by the Roosevelt Riding Rid-ing Club. Stands and concessions will be at the park, where those who are taking in the day's activities may buy their lunch. The concession and grounds committee includes Karl Betts, Grant Chugg, Parley Rawlings, Lynn Dye and Glen Sargent. Advertising committee consists of Marion Harrison, Mrs. Cliff Memmott, Arvin Bellon and Mrs. Keith Campbell. Responsibility for this year's celebration was delegated to the four Roosevelt wards, with Paul Nelson as general chairman. |
