Show BASIN BRIEFS John Zupko will be spraying the city streets for weeds all next week. Mayor Homer P. Edwards urges that all citizens who wish their lots sprayed for weed control contact Mr. Zupko Zup-ko by this weekend. Local winners at the Spring Acres race meet, May 27-30 at Springville were Jim Rhoades, Neola, whose horse took a second sec-ond in the two-year-old race Saturday; and Les Mullins, a , second, and Moon Mullins, third, in the 4V2 furlong. In Tuesday's races, Rhoades won first place for two-year olds, with Doug McKinlay's horse finishing fourth. ' Mr. and Mrs. Frank Hardy and daughters, of Ogden, visited visit-ed here recently with relatives. Mrs. Hardy will be remembered as the former Lola Ball. Mr. and Mrs. Leland Hanks, of Los Angeles, are visiting Mr. Hank's parents, Mr. and Mrs. B. A. Kimball. Kent Nelson, a student at BYU, spent the weekend with his parents, Mr. and Mrs. Paul E. Nelson. Mr. and Mrs. Dayl Webb left May 25 to make their home in Salt Lake City. Mrs. Richard Adams and Mr. and Mrs. Morrill Labrum returned re-turned Monday evening, after spending a few days at market week in Salt Lake. Mr. and Mrs. Reed Wiscombe and family, of Provo, spent the weekend here with relatives and friends. Mr. and Mrs. Clyde Wahl-quist, Wahl-quist, of Provo, are the parents of a new son their second child. Mr. Wahlquist, a former Ballard resident, was manager of the local Safewaq store until his transfer to Provo last year. Mr. and Mrs. Clair Larsen and family visited Sunday with relatives in Ferron. John M. Herr, Salt Lake City, a former Roosevelt resident, has been very ill in a Salt Lake hospital for the past month, Pvt. Neil W. Wilson, 17, son of Mrs. Rexa Giles, of Roosevelt, has reported to Lackland AFB, to begin the AF basic airmen indoctrination in-doctrination course. Mrs. Myrtle Lambert is leaving leav-ing by plane for Waukegan, 111. Friday morning to be with her daughter, Mrs. VaLois Goerner, who has just submitted to an operation. From there Mrs. Lambert Lam-bert will go to Catalina Island, Caifornia, to supervise a group of Santa Barbara high school girls during their month's vacation vaca-tion on the island. Mrs. Catherine Christensen, Mrs. Wm. C. Shultz, and Mr. and Mrs. D. O. Sorensen, of Ephriam, were weekend guests of Eldon Mortensen. |
