Show City Test Well May Be Drilled By Monday If operations run on schedule, the drilling of Roosevelt city's test well will be completed by next Monday, according to Jack Zimmerman, contract driller. Drilling started Monday, May 29, and will be continued until con tract depth has been reached. It will then be necessary to test for two or three days to determine whether there will be water in sufficient quantity and quality to fit the city's needs. Mr. Zimmerman estimates water wa-ter will be reached at between 60 and 65 feet. Expenses of testing are being be-ing borne by the city. However, if Leeton is accepted as a site for two water wells, the city council will probably have to float a regular bond issue for not less than $165,000 to pay for the wells, pipeline, and a reservoir, res-ervoir, Mayor Homer P. Edwards said Wednesday. So far no definite plans for financing the wells have been adopted. A final cost estimate, the Mayor continued, must wait until A. Z. Richards, Salt Lake City engineer and water adviser to the city, makes his report. |
