Show Ellen Bracken Phone 620G2 Retiring Officers Of VVards Feted At Party A party was held at the chapel Oct. 12 for Golden Collins and Ned Gines of Ballard ward and Glen Cakfer of the Moffat ward, all outgoing officers of the two bishoprics and Leslie Beardall, Marvin Kettle and Kay Arnold, the present bishopric. A large crowd was in attendee attend-ee and the following program was presented: two vocal solos by jrs. Leslie Beardall; two vocal duets by Mrs. Karl Shisler and Mrs. Junior Betts; histories of the Moffat and Ballard were given by Mrs. Eva Rushton and Mrs. Bill Parrish. Ice cream floats were served as refreshments. A quilt with names from the ward on was presented to Golden Collins, former bishop and books were given to Ned Gines and Glen Calder. Dancing was enjoyed under the direction of Mrs. Wilson Gutzman. Miss Genivieve Johnson who is attending school at the BYU spent the past weekend with her parents, Mr. and Mrs. Ercil Johnson. Mrs. Karl Shisler accompanied members of the stake Sunday School board to Salt Lake City Oct 14 to attend a convention. DAY OF PRIMARY CHANGES Primary will be held in the future on Wednesdays. Time of beginning will be 4:30. It has always been held on Tuesdays i' previously. AWARDS GIVEN At sacrament meeting Sunday evening, Oct. 14, special attendance attend-ance awards weTe presented by Bishop Beardall to quite a few members of both wards. Speakers were Presley Timothy, Mr. and Mrs. Jack Burgess and Mrs. Roger Larsen. Miss Judy Arnold played a piano solo. Miss Phyliss McDaniel of Alpine was a weekend visitor at the home of Mrs. Eva Bellon. Mr. and Mrs. Alden White spent last weekend in Salt Lake City Mrs. Louie Hall of Ouray was a visitor at the home of her daughter daugh-ter and son-in-law, Mr. and Mrs Howard Dean a few days last week. Her daughter, Hannah is staying with the Deans again this winter attending school. Mr. and Mrs. Bill Brisbin went to Salt Lake Ctiy on Oct. 3 to attend the funeral services of Ernest Turner who was a brother of ' Mrs. Brisbin's. The Turner family lived for some time at Alterra and we extend our sincere sympathy to Mrs. Turner and her ramiiy. Aaron Rasmussen was home from St. George, where he is attending school, to spend the weekend with his parents, Mr. and Mrs. Ole Rasmussen. Ras-mussen. P-TA TO MEET NOV. 1 P-TA will be held at Alterra on Thursday evening, Nov. 1. There will be a question box and a few musical numbers besides business. Refreshments will be served with Mrs. Earl Gardner as the refreshment refresh-ment chairman. Miss Sharon Rasmussen spent last ( weekend with friends and relatives in Salt Lake Ct.yi Mr. and Mrs. Bill Brisbin entertained en-tertained the following group recently at their home at dinner. Mr. and Mrs. Udell Birch, their daughter and son-in-law of Grants-ville,,and Grants-ville,,and Mr. and Mrs. Max Birch of Utahn. WORK DAY HELD 1 The Relief Society held their monthly work day Tuesday with a very large crowd in attendance. Some of the ladies worked an a quilt, some on articles for a baz-zar. baz-zar. Singing Mothers practice was also held. At noon a delicious lunch was served under the direction of Mrs. Verda Rasmussen and Mrs. Fannie Todd. At 1:00 pm. a group of ladies went to Roosevelt to attend at-tend the demonstration on hot sandwiches given at the stake chapel. Mr. and Mrs. Elton Kettle of Taylorsville and Mr. and Mrs. Charles M. Pool of Granger were out over the weekend to try their luck at deer hunting. Mr. and Mrs. Howard Todd and two small children have moved to Ogden where Howard has employment. em-ployment. Howard was recently honorably discharged from the service. Mrs. Calvin Squire is caring for the three younger children of Mr. and Mrs. Elmont Lemmon of Magna. Mr. Lemmon was seriouslv injured while deer hunting. Mrs. Milton Poulson, Mrs. Mont Poulson and Mrs. Phyliss Poulson from Ducheshne and Mrs. Arden Robbins of Vernal were visitors at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Karl Shisler one day last week. Charles Crozier of Neola was a visitor at Ballard Sunday School on Sunday. Mr. and Mrs. Earl McKenna of Provo were out over the weekend to go deer hunting. Mrs. Mc-Kenna's Mc-Kenna's mother cared for the baby while the parents were out. The Road Show of the Stake was a big success. Ballard was one of the three wards where it was held, and the house was well packed. Mr. and Mrs. Nile Ainge and Mr. and Mrs. Jay Hasten and children of Jensen were callers at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Von Haslem last Sunday. A large crowd attended the shower given for newlyweds, Mr. and Mrs. Glen Womack at the Stanley Womack home Saturday, Oct. 13. The young couple received re-ceived some lovely gifts. Glen and his new bride are now making mak-ing their home at Artesia, Colo., where he is employed. |
