Show EDITOR'S NOTE: Following is a letter received recently from Lionel and Ruth Jensen, who are serving an LDS Mission in the Hawaiian Islands: Laie, Oahu, T. H. October 10, 1956 "ALOHA" To Editor and Staff and Readers of The Standard: It is more than a month since we left home, but it seems so very short. We are so busy and happy here the time realy goes by. We are comfortably located in a new apartment about 75 feet from Pres. and Sister Dill-man Dill-man and about two blocks from the Temple and about five blocks west of the beach. This is veritably a garden of Eden, except there are no snakes. As there never is winter here they are planting flowers, melons and other crops to come off about Christmas time. The streets are lined with hedges of hibiscus, coconut trees and shrubs and flowers of every kind. Many people from all over the world come here to the Islands. We have just totaled up our number num-ber of visitors for the past four months (66,700), so you see the Temple and grounds are a big attraction. We have to study a lot to be prepared to answer their many questions. So far we have been able to defend our religion very well. It is surprising to know just how little the people of the world know of their churches. So far we have been enjoying good health. About the only things we miss, beside our families and friends, are the deer hunting stories. Pres. Dillman and I have been re-hearing a little on that. I beleive he is one up on me. Politics are all the go here. The Democrats seem to be prospering quite well. The primary' election was last Friday the 5'th of October. Octo-ber. We had a very good friend drive us around the Island, a trip of about 100 miles. A lot of the election places were made up of pretty signs and' scores of Hula Maidens dancing. Now if Gov. Lee and a few others could get on the ball, there would be . a lot more votes cast, especially from the male population. When I get home, if I ever go into politics, I shall have to use this technique. Maybe Heber T. and Bill Ostler should try it. We have been borrowing Pres. Dillman's "Standard," so maybe you should start sending our paper. We enjoy it very much, even if it is two weeks old when it gets here? "Aloha" Lionel and Ruth Jensen .Laie, Oahu, T. H.
