Show New Teachers ! Added To Alterra School Samuel Hemingway is a teacher at Alterra, replacing Mrs. LaVern Smith, who did not return. Rhoda Rudy, of Roosevelt, Roos-evelt, was also added to the teaching staff. Mrs. Wilson Gutz-man, Gutz-man, of Ft. Duchesne, will be a substitute. Wendel Johnson was a speaker speak-er at the Fireside meeting held, last Sunday evening at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Axel Anderson. An-derson. Mr. and Mrs. Reuben Sixkil- ler announce the recent birth of another son. Mrs. Lola Christensen, of Vernal, Ver-nal, supervisor of the county school lunch project, visited the Alterra School on Tuesday of last week. A group of Relief Society members met on Tuesday, Sept. 2, and quilted a quilt under the supervision of Maude Anderson, work leader. Mrs. Russel Todd presented the lesson for the visiting teachers and a pot-luck lunch was enjoyed at noon. Mr. and Mrs. Win. Jenkins and family, who have resided in Washington, during the summer sum-mer months, where Mr. Jenkins was employed, have moved back to their place in Ballard to put the children in school. Thursday morning about 10 o'clock there was an unusual sight over Alterra as twenty big silver airplanes went over in formation. for-mation. They were so high that one could hear only a low drone from their motors, and in the blue sky they made a very beautiful pictures. It was reported re-ported in Roosevelt that they were Flying Saucers. Keith Todd spent the Labor Day weekend in Salt Lake City. On Tuesday he drove the mail truck for Harold Sprouse, who was attending the Temple Excursion Ex-cursion in Salt Lake City. E. C. Coston attended the wedding of Miss Dorothy Scur-lock Scur-lock and Glen Embree at the Baptist Church in Roosevelt last week. Mrs. Coston attended the wedding reception held in the evening. Sgt. and Mrs. W. B. Stotler, of Fort Collins. Colo , have been visiting at the home of Mrs. Stotler's aunt, Mrs. Angus Anderson. Mrsi. Vada E!a!ton, who has been at the Anderson home, returned to her home in Colorado Springs, Colo., last week. The following piano students frnm Rallard Darticipated in the musical recital on Aug. 28 given by pupils of Mrs. Lela Labrum: Mary Collins, Clara Stolla, Colleen and Kenneth Squire. Mr. and Mrs. Keith Jackson, of Salem, Oregon, has been visiting at the home of Mrs Jackson's grandparents, Mr. and Mrs. John Gardner, and also at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Jack Cook. Mr. and Mrs. Bernell Buchanan Buchan-an and baby, of Spokane, Wash., are visiting at the home of Mrs. Buchanan's parents, Mr. and Mrs. Alden White. Mr. and Mrs. Tom Evans and family have moved from Ballard and Dale Ashby and family are moving into the house which they vacated. Mr. and Mrs. Angus Anderson Ander-son visited at the home of Mr. and Mrs. W. S. Mann at Vernal last Sunday. Mr. and Mrs. Charles M. Pool and their two small daughters, of Salt Lake City, were weekend week-end visitors at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Geo. Bracken and Mr. and Mrs. Elton Kettle. Mr. and Mrs. Glen Molyneux and small daughter, who have spent some time in Kansas City, Kansas, are at the home of Mrs. Molyneux's parents, Mr. and Mrs. Eric Stolla. Mr. Molyneux has received his honorable discharge dis-charge from the armed forces and they plan to make theL-home theL-home in Salt Lake City. The MIA officers presented an evening of entertainment last Tuesday evening to a large crowd. Farrell Rasmussen was lucky enough to win the quilt which was given away, Mrs. Ellen Dean, accompanied accompan-ied her daughter and son-in-la. Mr. and Mrs. Verl Ellison, of Salt Lake City, on a trip to Yellowstone National Park recently. |
