Show llildland Fires Still Menace Area Unless additional moisture is received, the coming weeks will Hve your local fire control officers of-ficers all they can handle, said District Firewarden Jess Hullinger. Hul-linger. Recent showers have done much to lessen our fire hazand and most people forget that the ground and fuel moisture is suffering from an accumulated bvo-year deficinecy. Undo- these conditions, moisture from light showers don't stay with us very long. . We all have to admit that everyone here in the Basin district dis-trict were very careful with fire over the long 4th and 24th of July weekends and no 'blowup" 'blow-up" fires occurred. Mr. Hullin- g-er hastened to point out, however, how-ever, that everywhere in the state fire occurance is far ahead of last year by about 2 to 1. This area has had its share of small fires, too, all of them caused by human carelessness. District Firewarden Hullinger hoped that those of you who visit outdoor recreation areas will remember the simple rules of the Utah Board of Forestry and Fire Control: (1) Crush your cigarettes; (2) Break your matches; (3) Douse your camp-fires; camp-fires; (4) Be careful with any fire; (5) Report andor fight any fire you see. Report fires to District Firewarden Jess Hullinger, telephone Roosevelt 05-J2; local police officer or call Utah Highway Patrol, Vernal Ver-nal 70. When the fight begins within with-in himself a man's worth something some-thing Browning. |
