Show Union Puts On Last Period Drive To Drop Moab 25-0 After being played on even terms most of the first three-quarters three-quarters by a steam-up Moab team, the Cougars from Union High School roared back in the final quarter to score three touch-downs and one extra point, to win their fifth game of the season, and their second league contest, 25-0. They now have score 129 while holding their five opponents to 13. Union kicked off to" Moab to start the game and the Tigers rolled 50 yards for three first downs to Union's 35 before being be-ing stopped by the Cougars. Union moved the ball back tor Moab's 40, where Ernie Dom-gaard Dom-gaard fumbled, and Moab recovered. re-covered. Neither team was able to threaten very seriously until late in the second quarter when a Moab kicker near his own goal line got off a bad punt, which was caught by Jack Adams Ad-ams on the 20 and returned to the 10. Domgaard went to the five and Packy . Fenn skirted the end for the first score. An attempted pass for the extra point failed and the Cougars led 6-0. Shortly after the final period got underway Quarterback Smiley Denver passed to Fenn on the 20 and he went the remaining re-maining distance for the second score. An attempted running play for the extra point failed, and the Cougars led 12-0. The third TD came after Lloyd Duncan, who did a bang- up jod or replacing injured iaie Womack in the lineup, came through with several nice runs, advancing the ball to the 30. Denver again flipped a well directed pass into the arms of Packy Fenn, who raced over for the TD. Smiley kicked the extra point to run the score to 19-0. Fenn intercepted a Moab pass on the 45 to set the stage for the final score, which was made by Ruben Broderick, who went around right end for the TD that gave the Cougars a clean-cut clean-cut 25-win, as Denver's attempted attemp-ted kick was wide. The Cougars made a total of 18 first downs in the game as compared with 7 for Moab, who' made 5 in the first half. Next week the Cougars will be idle while Uintah entertains Moab. Then the really big game will be here on Oct. 22 when the Utes from Uintah, who maintain the breaks were all against them last week, as they bowed to Union's power 21-0, invade Union territory. |
