Show Three File For Roosevelt School Position The present incumbent member mem-ber of the Duchesne County school board representing the Roosevelt No'. 2 district, a former for-mer school board member, and another prominent farmer and stockman, will make the contest con-test on November 2, a triangle affair. According to Porter L. Mer-rell, Mer-rell, county clerk, Theron Leav-itt, Leav-itt, who is completing his third year as an appointee member of the board and currently serving ser-ving as vice-president, filed his declaration of nomination late Saturday to' make the third candidate can-didate to file. The former board member to file is Gordon E. Harmston, who served the unexpired un-expired term of Vean Bair from the latter part of 1946 to the end of 1949. He is presently manager of the Frontier Grill Cafe and Mr. Leavitt is in the Farm Equipment business. The third candidate is Rulon Anderton, Ander-ton, who owns a large farm south of Roosevelt and is in the dairy and livestock business as well. Mr. Leavitt is an active member mem-ber of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and is serving as a high councilman in the Roosevelt stake. He pre-' (Continued on Back Page) Three File ... Mr. Harmston is an active communicant communi-cant of the St. "Helen's Catholic church, and has been closely identified with civic afafirs, being be-ing a member of the Lions Club and Chamber of Commerce. Com-merce. Mr. Anderton has served in the Roosevelt LDS stake high council, and was a member of the bishopric of the Roosevelt ward along with Mr. Leavitt, when the ward was divided last March. All are family men and have children attending the schools of Roosevelt. This is the first time the school board election will be ' held with a general election, ' the date being Nov. Z. A sep-, arate ballot will be provided , for this part of the election. |
