Show Road Delegations Present Ideas To Roosevelt C.C. The Roosevelt Chamber of Commerce board of directors Tuesday entertained three different dif-ferent delegations who are concerned con-cerned about roads. From the Price Chamber of Commerce came their road committee. From Vernal and Craig, Colo, came officials of the Highway 40 Ass'n., and from Duchesne came city -officials. A couple of months ago the local Chamber was approached and asked to pass a resolution favoring the building of High- (Continued On Back Page) Road Delegation (Continued from Page 1) way No. 53 (Myton-Nine Mile). The board voted to table such a request and invite proponents of Highway 53, and those supporting sup-porting the Indian Canyon road. Highway 33. At the February meeting, a Duchesne City delegation dele-gation met and presented their arguments why the Indian Canyon Can-yon route was the most consistent consis-tent for all purposes. The delegation from Price which consisted of George Pat-terick, Pat-terick, chairman; Vern Davis and Bill Grogan, represented the Price Chamber of Commerce, Com-merce, and through their chairman chair-man announced they came with an open mind and would support sup-port the Indian Canyon road if they could be convinced it was more practical. He explained why Price felt the Nine Mile road would be an easier and less expensive road to construct, and maintain during the winter. Mayor Otto E. Johnsen and I Chester Lyman represented Du-1 Du-1 chesne City and again presented their -feelings on the matter. Heading the Highway 40 delegation del-egation was Past President Ed Harding, of Craig, and Wiley Bucum, president, of Price. Their purpose in attending the meeting was to plan a meeting of Highway 40 directors for sometime in the near future at Vernal, and to encourage additional addi-tional promotion of the attractions attrac-tions that would bring tourists into our area. Lawrence Siddoway, Vernal Chamber of Commerce executive execu-tive chairman, briefly reported on the Echo Park project, and encouraged the letter writing campaign to continue uninterrupted. uninter-rupted. 1 The meeting Tuesday was presided over by Dr. Paul Stringham, president, and the road discussion was led by Howard How-ard Harrison and Merlin Sullivan, Sulli-van, co-chairmen of the committee com-mittee on roads. They assured the visiting delegations that they would continue to study the program before making any decision. President Stringham appointed appoint-ed Vic Brown as chairman of the nomination committee and asked him to get his committee together, select the names of 10 candidates for the 5 retiring board members and have a complete com-plete report made at the next board meeting. The fiscal year ends June 30, at which time new officers should have been elected. |
