Show FCIC Pays 1500 Utah Wheat Losses LOGAN More than 1500 of the 12,100 Utah wheat producers who insured their wheat crops with the Federal Crop Insurance corporation during the past five years have received payments for crop losses, H. E. Larsen of Corinne, member of the Utah State AAA committee announced announc-ed Saturday. These producers received a total of 231,088 bushels of wheat in settlement of losses in the five years, he reported. The federal crop insurance, act is comparable in many ways to the social security act for industrial in-dustrial populations, he pointed out, with the government providing pro-viding a system whereby the population most directly concerned con-cerned carries all, or a substantial substan-tial part, of the burden of its disaster. Producers were insured against loss from drouth, winterkill, winter-kill, excessive moisture, hail, rust, flood, wind, frost, grasshoppers, grasshop-pers, cutworms, smut, etc., up to either 50 or 75 per cent of their farm's normal yield, depending upon the kind of policy taken out. |
