Show Suit For Back Pay Of $50,000 Filed Against Power Co. Suit to collect $50,000 for al-ledged al-ledged back wages was filed last Monday in U. S. district court at Salt Lake against the Uintah Power and Light Co. Basis for the complaint is the fair labor standards act of 1938. The suit is filed under two separate sep-arate counts and charges the Uintah Power and Light Co., with failure to provide overtime pay for work required of certain cer-tain employees in excess of 40 hours a week since May 14, 1947. A judgment of $25,000 is sought in each action. The first action was instituted by Fred V. Wardle, of Woods Cross, Davis county, on behalf of himself, all former and present pres-ent employees of the local utility util-ity company. f i f In the second action, which also seeks judgment of $25,000, 11 employes are named as plaintiffs. plain-tiffs. They ask that the judgment be apportioned among them "according "ac-cording to evidence supporting the individual claims of each plaintiff." Plaintiffs, under both counts, charge the defendant with violation vio-lation of the fair standards act of 1938. They further allege proper pro-per daily time records were submitted sub-mitted by employes and that the defendants failed to pay overtime. over-time.
