Show Basin F.&A.IYJ. Await Dedication Of Masonic Temple AN epochal event in the history his-tory of Utah Freemasonry will be observed Saturday evening when officers of the Grand Lodge of Utah, Free and Accepted Accep-ted Masons, dedicate the Masonic temple nearing completion in Roosevelt. Headed by Ortis C. Skaife, Right Worshipful Deputy Depu-ty Grand Master of Utah Masons, the Grand Lodge officers will arrive by chartered bus to perform per-form the ceremonies which will officially open the new home of Basin Lodge No. 20, F. & A. M. Basin Lodge, instituted in 1914 at My ton to serve the Masonic Ma-sonic fraternity in northeastern Utah, voted to move its center of activities to Roosevelt last spring. This move and the institution insti-tution of Ashley Lodge U. D at Vernal last January constitute consti-tute the first major changes in Utah Freemasonry in sixteen years. Following the unanimous decision de-cision pf it members to move! frpm Mytgn, Bpsin Lodge acquired ac-quired the Trinity (Episcopal) church in June, and immediately launched a remodeling program commensurate to the needs of the Masonic fraternity, and in accordance with the requirements require-ments of the Grand Lodge of Utah. Remodeling has been in progress since early July and except for minor additions will be ready for the winter work of Basin Lodge following Saturday's Satur-day's dedication, THE acquisition and rebuilding rebuild-ing of the Trinity church by local lo-cal Masons was made possible through issuance of non-interest bearing notes to Basin Lodge members, a plan approved by Harold Cllne, Worshipful Grand Master of the Utah Grand Lodge, F. & A. M. The building program was administered by a committee commit-tee composed of: J. D. Walker, Fred C. Ferron, Axel A. Birch, Reed H. McClellan and V. A. Bair with C. L. Fretwell serving as committee secretary. Construction Con-struction has been done by J. D. Walker. An expected 70 or 80 Masons :from lodges throughout Utah will participate in and witness the dedicatory ceremonies Saturday Sat-urday evening. In the absence of Harold Cline, of Milford, Most Worshipful Grand Master, Ortis C. Skaife, Deputy Grand Master, will officiate. A banquet, an offering of the ladies of Duveromy chapter, Order of the Eastern Star, will start Saturday's activities at 6.30 p. m. in the American Legion Leg-ion barracks. The ceremonial of dedication will begin at 8 p. m. in the new Masonic temple with officers of the governing body of Utah's Free and Accepted Masons opening the lodge. "After 33 years Basin Lodge No. 20, has strengthened its position po-sition among the Masonic Lodges Lod-ges of Utah, and in acquiring its own temple can better serve the fraternity in Duchesne and western west-ern Uintah counties," Frank J. Chamberlin, Worshipful Master of Basin Lodge declared. |
