Show IVhiterocks Delia Francis Gene Ferguson was seriously injured Friday at the Nyberg Sawmill when a tree fell and struck him. He was taken to the Roosevelt hospital. Mr. and Mrs. Duane Knoble and son, Gary, Mr. and Mrs. Earl Miller and Mr. and Mrs. Ward Seeley, all of Salt Lake, visited Mr. and Mrs. Cloyd Seeley last week. Gerrie Griffin has returned to Wasatch Academy to resume her studies. Mrs. Emma Jake, a former employe em-ploye of the Uintah Boarding school, has been appointed Boys' Matron. Mrs. Nora Christensen, secretary sec-retary of the Whiterocks Relief Society, reports the organization organiza-tion has reached the quota assigned as-signed by the General Board of the L D S Church for the pir-' pir-' pose of constructing the Relief Society building in Salt Lake. Mr. and Mrs. Dewey Lcbo, of I Norman, Okla., Mrs. Laura Ken, 1 of Springfield, Mo., and Mrs. Wallis Weeks, of Fruita, Colo., visited Mr. and Mrs. Frank Griffin, Grif-fin, recently. The 4-H club girls entertained their mothers at a luncheon Thursday at the home of Mrs. Nora Christensen. Mrs. Carl Christensen has returned re-turned from Willows after spending spend-ing a few weeks with her daughter, daugh-ter, Mrs. Ben Heggie. Community Day was held at Randlett August 28. The mission mis-sion family of the Holy Spirit Mission turned out in full force to beautify their mission. The women made the interior of the mission fairly shine while the men built a new fence. Both men aind women worked together to beautify the graveyard. All participated par-ticipated in a "pot luck" lunch and enjoyed a fellowship hour. All. worshipped from 7 until 7:30 p. m. before returning to their homes. Mr. and Mrs. Edson Holmes, of Republic, Kan., and Mr. and Mrs. Bill Holmes, of Price, visited visit-ed at the home of Mrs. E. Christensen Chris-tensen last week. Mr. and Mrs, Floyd Wheeler are spending their vacation in California. Mrs. T. C. Guyn, of San Francisco, Fran-cisco, California, was a visitor at the Floyd Wheeler home, Saturday. Sa-turday. Roy Adams, Roy Springer and Floyd S. Wheeler spent the weekend fishing1 at Cliff Lake. Mr. and Mrs. James Beck and small son, Greg, spent several days visiting relatives in American Ameri-can Fork and Layton. Warren Robb met with an accident at the Virgil Robb mill last week. Sacrament meeting was held at the Marinus Christensen home Sunday, Aug. 15. Mr. Oaks, of Vernal and Jay Murray were the speaker's. Margie Robb is visiting relatives rela-tives in Salt Lake City. James Swartz, of Shreve, Ohio is the guest of Mr. and Mrs. Roy Adams this week. Mr. and Mrs. r eins iviuraocK and Mrs. Jean Peterson and son enjoyed a picnic in Uinta Canyon, Can-yon, Sunday. Miss Roberta Smith has returned re-turned from the Roosevelt hospital hos-pital after an appendicitis operation. op-eration. The Farm Creek men were out fighting a forest fire all night Monday. It was brought under control about 7 a. m. Tuesday after it had burned over about 4 acres in Wild Horse canyon. Visiting Sam and Charlie Hoel Saturday, Aug. 28 were Mrs. May Ruple, her daughter Mar-thie Mar-thie Nelson, her granddaughter, Laura Witmer, and children and Mrs. Hattie Burton. Mrs. Ruple taught at the Whiterocks Indian school some 70 years ago, being one of its first teachers. She is now 93 years old. |
