Show Committee Lines Up Events For County's '48 Fair FOLLOWING the announcement announce-ment that the Duchesne County Fair will be held Monday, Sept. 6, the fair committee this week issued this statement: "We are. inviting entries from all parts of the county and urge full support sup-port of the undertaking. Housewives House-wives and 4-H club members who plan to enter exhibits are asked to cooperate by having samples of their work in before 10 a. m., Monday. All livestock entries must be on the ground before 12 noon." Premium books are being mailed mail-ed this week, but persons not receiving their book may obtain copies at the county agent's office of-fice or at community stores. The schedule of events includes in-cludes the judging of flowers, canning, needlework and handi-ciaft handi-ciaft in open and 4-H classes. Spectators will not be allowed in the old LDS church building, the location of these exhibits, until after the judging. This event is scheduled to take place at 10 a. m., and the doors will be open for public examination at 12 noon. AT the time of the public inspection in-spection of homecraft and 4-H displays, the girls 4-H clubs will holda demonstration and style review in the old LDS Church. The events at the rodeo ground will get under way at 1 p. m. with the judging or hogs and sheep. The judging of livestock live-stock will be held later in the afternoon and will include draft horses, pleasure horses, gaited horses and dairy and beef cattle. The afternoon's program at the rodeo ground will include a bicycle race to be conducted during the sheep and hog judging. jud-ging. The winner of the event will be awarded $3 and the runner-up S2. A boy's pony race with prizes of $5 and $3; a potato po-tato race, with a guaranteed prize of $10, winner take all. Livestock judging will be held between. the pony race and the potato race. The " tractor race, making its bow at the Fair this year, will include standard gear and road gear machines with an entrance fee of $1 and prizes of $10 and $5 going to winners and runners-up. Horse racing and a greased pig contest will complete the agenda. |
