Show Party Candidates Jkwait Voter Action in Primary Election Next Tuesday; Governorship Us Top, Race Republicans Schedule Full Ballot While Democrats Limit Contestants; Interest Focused On Governorship UTAHNS will try out their new primary election law next Tuesday in making a selection of Democratic and Republican candidates can-didates to fill the national, state and county slate for the general balloting in November. Heretofore voters have been obliged to cast at least two ballots bal-lots and a possible three before completing the preliminary rounds of election procedure. In a number of circles the past long drawn out business of naming candidates to run in the general election is held accountable for the light primary vote cast in Utah. The Republicans have the big-ballot big-ballot in this year's primary. Every office for Congressman to 2-Year County Commissioner has two Republican contestants. The Democrats on the other hand have contestants only for the Governorship, Secretary of State, Auditor, Treasurer, Attorney General, State Representative, 4-Year County Commissioner and 2-Year County Commissioner. Commission-er. i i i PRIMARY interest, both locally local-ly and state-wide is focused on the gubernatorial race Governor Gover-nor Herbert B. Maw and John S. Boyden on the Democratic side and J. Bracken Lee, the GOP candidate in 1944, and Ren-dell Ren-dell N. Mabey, Speaker of the Utah House of Representatives, in the Republican column. The race between State Senator Sena-tor Mitchell Melich and David J. Wilson for the Republican nomination for Congressman from the First District is receiving receiv-ing secondary attention. From a purely local standpoint the contest between R. Earl Dill-man, Dill-man, Roosevelt, and Dr. F. G. Eskelson, Vernal, for the 5th District State Senatorial nomination, nomina-tion, holds top spot. Lynn Orser is unopposed within the Democratic Demo-cratic ranks for this post. Running a close second from the standpoint of Duchesne county coun-ty interest, is the four way bid for State Representative. For the Republican nomination, Wm. N. Brotherson is challenging Horace L. Allred, incumbent. While Wm. H. Linck, Myton, and J. P. Madsen, Duchesne, are challenging challeng-ing each other for the Democratic Demo-cratic nod. Interest in the candidates for m other state, district and county offices is lagging.
