Show Lloyd J. Riggs SYRACUSE Lloyd Jones Riggs, 70, of 2216 S. 1000 W., died Saturday, March 19, 1988 at an Ogden care center of lupus. He was born Nov. 11, 1917 in Wellsville, a son of Samuel Zial Perkins and Annie Leishman Jones Riggs. He married Leora Harris Thur-good Thur-good Nov. 19, 1953 in Sunset. He was retired from the federal service and had lived in Wellsville and Syracuse. He was a member of the Syracuse Syra-cuse 3rd Ward where he served as High Priest and home teacher. He was a veteran of World War II serving with the U.S. Army in the South Pacific. He was a member of the DAV Davis County Post 14. Surviving are his widow of Syra-cuse; Syra-cuse; two daughters and three sons, Sandra of California; Mrs. Leslie (Beulah) Cook, Duane Thurgood, DeLore W. Thurgood and Boyd T. Thurgood, all of Syracuse; Syra-cuse; 20 grandchildren, 45 greatgrandchildren great-grandchildren and five great-greatgrandchildren. Also surviving are three sisters, Ruby Nelson, Willard; Eva Thorsen, Brigham City; Isabell Wendell, Wellsville. Funeral directors, Lindquist's Kaysville Mortuary. Bishop Alan Thurgood officiated at funeral services held March 23. Family prayer was offered by Leslie P. Cook; prelude, Randy Gailey; "In The Garden" by Nancy Nan-cy Thurgood; invocation, DeLore W. Thurgood; remarks, Bishop Alan Thurgood; speakers, Boyd T. Thurgood and Val T. Cook; "Goin' Home" by Nancy Thurgood; benediction, be-nediction, Kevin T. Cook. Dedication of the grave was by Randy Cook with interment in the Syracuse City Cemetery. Military honors were accorded by the American Legion Color Guard. Pallbearers were Barry Thurgood, Thur-good, Bart Thurgood, Darin Thurgood, Thur-good, Colin Thurgood, Michael Thurgood, Ricky Thurgood, Corey Thurgood and Drew Thurgood. Honorary pallbearers were Kevin Cook, Douglas Thurgood, Curtis Thurgood, Gary S. Cook and Dennis L. Cook. |
