Show Golf Course purchase narrowly passes in W. B. WEST BOUNTIFUL By a narrow margin, voters approved the purchase of the Patio Springs golf course by the city. About 30 percent of the city's registered voters turned out at the polls March 22 were 280 voted for and 263 voted against the $835,000 purchase. Mayor Jerry Thompson was excited about the prospects of the city owning the course. "We expect to remedy the problems of the past and really make this thing a money maker and a great asset." The mayor said the city expects to upgrade the snack bar and the entire course. "We want to make this a first-class operation and we'd like to see a profit the first year," he said. Mayor Thompson pointed out that last year the course had 28,000 patrons compared to Bountiful's approximate 104,000 and Davis County's 1 14,000. He feels the upgraded services will attract more patrons and substantially increase revenues. The city will take full control of the course April 1 . "::r::::::, , ,;,;: , L. |
