Show A. Island ferry service terminated until spring The Antelope Island State Park ferry service has been discontinued discon-tinued until next spring. THE FERRY service, operated by Western River Expeditions, provided access to Antelope Island State Park for the first time since the 1983 spring flooding forced the closure of the 6'2 mile causeway to the park. Mitch Larsson, Antelope Island Park Manager said, "We were very pleased to once again host visitors at the park. Many visitors have taken advantage of the ferry service. ser-vice. Visitors have expressed that being ferried to Antelope Island State Park was a new and exciting way to experience the Great Salt Lake as well as the park." BECAUSE OF the discontinuance discon-tinuance of the ferry service, Antelope Ante-lope Island State Park is closed to the public until next spring. Re-creationists, Re-creationists, particularly boaters and hikers, are urged to observe the closure of the park. Facilities have been winterized and park personnel per-sonnel have been assigned other winter duties. Persons failing to observe the closure subject themselves them-selves to the inconvenience of arrest and the possibility of a fine. Reopening Antelope Island State Park will occur in the spring when the ferry service will once again operate. |
