Show Here's parking tips With the passing of summer we are now fast approaching the holiday holi-day season. With this festive time of the year also comes the busiest shopping time of the year. Unfortunately Unfor-tunately accompanied with heavy shopping periods are parking problems. prob-lems. IN AN effort to assist the citizens of our community in avoiding a parking related problem this month's issue of the "Traffic Corner" Cor-ner" will highlight three parking violations that frequently occur. Effective this year is a new state statute which requires police officers offic-ers to enforce unauthorized parking park-ing in designated handicapped parking on private property. Vehicles Vehi-cles parked in handicapped areas must be properly designated with either handicapped license plates, or cards appropriately placed. Vehicles illegally parked in stalls or designated areas for the handicapped handicap-ped will be cited. PURSUANT to the Uniform Fire Code, the Bountiful Police Department Depart-ment will also be increasing their enforcement effort in appropriately appropriate-ly marked fire lanes. A fire lane is usually found near public buildings. build-ings. They are usually marked with signs and-or a red curb line. Some fire lanes will also be designated de-signated with markings on the asphalt or parking area as well. Most fire lanes in Bountiful are on shopping centers, stores and schools. Any vehicle parked in this area is subject to a parking citation. AGAIN THIS year the ordinance prohibiting overnight parking during dur-ing the winter months (November through March) will not be implemented. im-plemented. To assist the Street Department De-partment in properly clearing the streets of snow we ask that cars not be parked upon the street when it is snowing or when a snowfall is forecast. fore-cast. We are grateful for the community commun-ity support we have received and ask for your continued support in the future. |
