Council give final approval for the new Hillside Oaks II Sub-division Sub-division last week which will include 15 residential lots and an LDS chapel. ' THE SUBDIVISION will be ': the first major development on -: the hillside since the city put a moritorium on further building there. The city decided to lift the moritorium, however, when Consolidated Capital, a Salt Lake real estate develop-mcnt develop-mcnt firm, agreed to put in road and sewer improvements for the area. : The company is also working work-ing with other developers on proposals to build another road off the hillside. Citizens had earlier protested against the new subdivision because there is currently only one road leading off the hill. ACCORDING to city officials, offi-cials, the developer has con formed to the city's hillside ordinance and to all of the city engineer's recommendations made at the time of preliminary approval. Construction should begin on some lots almost immediately, immedi-ately, but the new church building will probably take a little longer. The LDS Church will often set aside parcels of land years in advance of the need for actual construction, according to church physical facilities officials. IN OTHER council action, the mayor has accepted the resignation of Richard Johnson, John-son, planning commission chairman. Mr. Johnson has recently re-cently received a commission to do a large sculpture for an eastern city. Mayor Palmqtiist said his letter of resignation also mentioned a desire to spend more time with family. Mr. Johnson had served on the commission for over nine years. L |
