This Utah association is part of the Music Teachers' National Na-tional Association which is one of the oldest musical organizations organiza-tions in our country. It has endeavored en-deavored to enhance the profession pro-fession of music teaching by providing opportunities for the individual teacher to keep abreast of new ideas and developments. THE LOCAL group sponsors spon-sors workshops, clinics and opportunities for the exchange of ideas. Both the state and national na-tional organizatio offer certification. certifi-cation. This certificate is a nationally na-tionally accepted standard showing evidence of a teacher's excellence. Conventions Conven-tions are held annually on both a state and national level. Each spring UMTA and the lo.al chapter sponsor student achievement for the students of member teachers. Students are given the opportunity to demonstrate their skills in performance, per-formance, theory, technique, sight reading, and music appreciation. There are recitals recit-als and competitions for students stu-dents to enter also. MEMBERSHIP is open to any music teacher interested in improving teaching skills, exchanging ex-changing ideas with other teachers, and raising the standard stan-dard of music teaching in our community. |
