Show Early Pioneer ' Lady Called Back Home i- MRS. HANNAH NEILSON WALL .. COMPLETES HER LIFE WORK AT AGE OF 7fi YEARS. Very impressive funeral services were held this Friday afternoon 'at the Presbyterian church for Mrs. Hannah Neilson Wall, an early pi-' pi-' oneer of 'this city, who, after a short illness, died at her home in this city Tuesday, April 30. The obsequies were conducted under the direction of the Rev. R. B. Norton. "Jesus Lover of My Soul" was beautifully rendered by a mixed quartet from the church choir. The opening prayer was offered by Rev. Norton. "Abide With Me" and "Lead Kindly Light" were also rendered by the members of the choir. Consoling words to the family and friends were spoken by Rev. Norton. The floral offerings were many and beautiful. The com-mital com-mital service at the cemetery was conducted by Rev. Norton, and the many flowers were laid' upon the grave. Mrs. Wall was born at Eskeltorp, - Sweden, December 14, 1842. She left her native country in company , with her brother, N. S. Neilson, in April, 1868, and arrived in Utah in September of the same year. They Bailed on the last sailing ship which carried Mormons across the great Atlantic. At-lantic. , The voyage from Liverpool (to New York lasted for nine weeks. They traveled by rail -to Fort Steel, Wyo., and from this point they went by ox team to Salt Lake City, a journey jour-ney of three weeks. At Salt Lake she was married to August Wall February 2, 1869, and they moved to Mount Pleasant, where they made their home. She leaves her husband, her brother, N. S. Neilson, and four sons, August, Oscar, E. W., and H. F., also a number of grandchildren. She had two other sons who preceded ' her to the other side. They were, Albert, who died at the age of 2 years, and Arthur, who died at the age of 6 years. She has a large number of grandchildren. Had Mrs. Wall lived until next February, she would have celebrated her Gulden Wedding. Mrs. Wall was a loveable mother, having encouraged her children to live the same noble life she has lived'. Her children are all prominent men in the business affairs of this community, com-munity, and bespeak the excellent qualities of their mother in their own characters. Mrs. Wall completed her life at a good age, being in her seventy-sixth year. |
