Show NEIGHBORHOOD NEWS . Mrs. Evan Johnson and small son Evan of Ephraim spent Sunday as guefis at the Abram Johnson home. Mrs. A. L. Larsen and two little daughters, Letitia and Beulali, are at home again after a month's visit with relatives in Portage and Malad, Ida. Miss Ruth Candiand entertained the S. G. club Monday evening at a kensington and luncheon. Six members mem-bers were present. Miss-Mae MeArthur and Miss Val Renburg entertained at the MeArthur home for Mr. Deane Wells of Pueblo, Colorado, and Mr. Wardner Scott of Lincoln, Nebraska. Willis Tidwell, who has been employed em-ployed with the Continental Oil Co. at Salt Lake City for the past seven months, returned home Wednesday to remain for the summer. Douglas G undersell, who is attending attend-ing the University at Salt Lake City this year, is home spending a few days with his parents and friends. He will return to his school work again next Sunday. The Wasatch Senior class celebrated celebrat-ed "Senior Day" Wednesday with a hike to the Rainbow Fishery, where appetizing camp dinners and suppers were prepared for a crowd of fifteen. Before returning to town, a program of out-door sports was enjoyed. Mr. and Mrs. E. C. Johnson, Miss Viola Johnson, and Mr. and Mrs. Oscar Os-car Norman of Fairview will leave Sunday morning on an automobile trip to Garfield, where they will spend several days as guests of Mr. and Mrs. Savona Norman. Miss Margaret Wall was the recipient recip-ient of a very successful surprise Sat-unday Sat-unday evening, given by a party of her classmates. The guests came costumed cos-tumed as children and children's games and sports were enjoyed, with prizes awarded to- Gene Kroupa, Mabel Ma-bel Hall and Lawrence Heinlein. The beautifully appointed luncheon table, which had a tall crystal vase of pink and white snap dragons for a centerpiece, center-piece, held covers for fifteen. Mrs. Hannah Clark was very pleasantly surprised at her home Saturday Sat-urday afternoon by a number of friends and relatives1, the occasion being be-ing in honor of her fifty-sixth birthday birth-day anniversary. The afternoon was spent in social chat and musical selections se-lections were given by the Misses Christie and Ruth Clark. Covers were placed for Mrs. Harriet Cliff, Mrs. Ida Merz, Mrs. Anna Jdhansen, Mrs). Vera Stewart, Mrs. Caroline Christensen, Mrs. Jennie Christensen, Mrs. Mary Kn'u'dsen and Mrs. Sarah Madsen. Mrs. R. Strom of Salt Lake and Mrs. Waldemar Clark of Fair-view Fair-view were special guests. One of the most novel and unique entertainments of the year was the "Roman Banquet" given by Miss Mary Trowbridge for the members of her Latin classes Monday evening at the teacher's cottage. The rooms were artistically draped in purple and white hangings and tapestries to resemble re-semble a Roman banquet hall, and the guests, numbering twenty-six, were resplendent in Roman costumes. During the banquet, the guests reclined re-clined on couches and divans, and between be-tween each course an entertainment feature was interspersed. Several clown stunts, Latin songs and Latin poems proved especially enjoyable. The menu in keeping with other features fea-tures was also Roman. The Home Culture club met Wednesday- afternoon at the Aldrich home with Mrs. Amasa Aldrich, Mrs. C. H. Denhalter and Mrs. A. D. Christensen Chris-tensen as hostesses. The club quartet quar-tet furnished several musical numbers, num-bers, and Mrs- D. R. Jensen sang two beautiful solos. Twelve members responded to roll call with amusing anecdotes, and an interesting article, "The Enlisted Wife," was read by Mrs. J. W. Cherry. Mrs. Martin Aid-rich, Aid-rich, Mrs. Ray Bowman of Copperop-olis, Copperop-olis, Calif., Mrs. Myron Aldrich of Spring City, Mrs. D. R. Jensen and Mrs. J. A. Whipple were special guests. The last meeting for this year will be held Thursday, May 9, at the home of the president, Mrs. A. Crane. |
