Show Another large building is being planned for the Wasatch Academy block in this city, which when completed com-pleted will add greatly to the already al-ready splendid equipment of that institution. in-stitution. The new building is to be a gymnasium. gym-nasium. Plans have already been drawn for it and but for the fact that at a late date it was decided to enlarge the structure and that such enlargement will materially increase in-crease the cost over the amount of the original figures it would have been under way before this. As it is the plan is to get at the erection of the building in a short time and to have it ready for occupancy early ear-ly next winter, very soon after the opening of school. The building is to stand on the south side of the Academy lot facing fac-ing the south and runnmg to the sidewalk. It will not interfere with the campus for athletics or for any Hher purpose. The size of the building will be 60 by 90 feet, the gymnasium room being about 25 feet in height. The upper floor will consist of the large room and a couple cou-ple of smaller ones near the entrance for cloak rooms. The lockers, liowers, toilets, etc., are to be in the basement. While the building is being erected erect-ed primarily for a gymnasium, and it will be well equipped for that purpose, it is to be utilized for other oth-er purposes as well. For instance, it is to be supplied with seats and will be used as an auditorium whenever when-ever the occasion requires. Roller Roll-er skating is planned for the room also. In fact it is to be adapted to a number of purposes, for any in fact for which there is a demand. Latest estimates, made by the architect ar-chitect who is planning the building are that it will cost in the neighborhood neighbor-hood of $25,000.00. |
