Desolation brooded Tuesday night over the city and in thoroughfares thorough-fares renowned the world over as centers cen-ters of beauty and fashion rescue parties par-ties are probing into the chasms made by Monday's storms for the bodies of those who were hurled without warning warn-ing into pits thirty and forty feet below be-low the sidewalks. Eight bodies have been recovered so far, but at least another dozen art known to be buried in the fissures.
