Show High School Teachers Invited To Safety School At Brigham Young U. Aimed at promoting safer driving on Utah's highways, a special Driver Education Institute In-stitute for high school teachers will be held Aug. 29 through Sept. 3 at Brigham Young University Uni-versity in Provo. Each school in Utah should send at least , one teacher to the course, according to state officials offi-cials endorsing the program. The course will prepare teachers to instruct junior high and high school students in safe driving practices which will pay safety dividends to every community in the state. Organizations concerned with traffic safety which are cooperating cooper-ating in sponsoring the institute are; Utah Safety Council, Utah State Press Assn., State Department Depart-ment of Public Instruction, Utah Congress of Parents and Teachers Utah State Road Patrol, U'ah Automobile Dealers Assn., Extension Ex-tension Division, BYU, and department de-partment of health, physical ed ucation, and recreation, BYU. The course will be taught by Marland K. Strasser of New York City, driver training specialist for the American Assn. of Casualty Cas-ualty and Surety Companies. Sessions of the institute will be held from 8 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. daily for five days at the university uni-versity campus, and two hours of university credit will be given each participant. Registration and books will be covered by a $10 enrollment fee and board and room will be available for $10 during the course if desired. Enrollment in the course should be made by writing to the Extension Division at BYU, it is announced. |
