Show Ice Show Will Help Open Utah State Fair The doors of Utah's magnificent magnifi-cent "49er" State Fair will open Friday, Sept. 16. "Governor's Night" at the dazzling quarter-million-dollar spectacle, "Holiday "Holi-day on Ice," ill draw the attention atten-tion to thousands of fair goers the first evening, according to J. A. Theobald, Secretary manager. At this moment crews of men are at work putting the spacious fair grounds including the exhibit ex-hibit into top condition for a real old- fashioned state fair, wherein the farmer, cattle man and poultry . producer will steal the show in a grand display excelling ex-celling anything ever previously-staged previously-staged at the State Fair, Mr. Theobald said. County Exhibits This week, the theatre build ing is being sub-divided into booths to accommodate the displays dis-plays of Utah's 29 counties. The counties will be reserved for them during future fairs and it is expected ex-pected that the permanent neon lighting and other improvements can be installed by the counties for use during succeeding years. Cattle Exhibits The cattle barns at the fair grounds have all been entirely renovated re-novated and the cattle wash rack has been doubled in size. The greatest news regarding the catlc display, however, is the change In the methods of judging. A large tent, 100 by 60 feet, equipped equip-ped with bleachers will be erected nea r to the cattle barris and all 1 stock will be judged in the ten! in full view of the spectators. Cattle judging will lake place on Monday, Tuseday, and Wcdnse-day. Wcdnse-day. Home Arts The home arts exhibits building build-ing has been completely renovated. renov-ated. The glass display cases, the exhibit racks and all equipment are now ready to accommodate the home art products which always al-ways attracted such wide attention at-tention from the woman folk at the Utah State Fair. Fine Arts Utah artists from all section.1. of the state are expected to hang their works in the newly decorated decor-ated Fine Arts building. So great is the interest in art in Utah and so comlete will the art exhibit be, that an out-of-state jury all canvases. The art exhibit at the fair this season is expected t( show one of the finest collection? of oil and water color paintings ever assembled in the State and cash prizes will be distributed to the winners in the professional student and amatuer groups. Special attention is being pair' by the fair directors to the musical musi-cal competitions this year. Com peting musicians will be giver special auditions. All musician' competing must prepare two re' ections, varied in style, character and performances. Winners in the advanced classification w'l! receive cash awards as will winners win-ners in the lower classifications All in all, Utah's "49er" State Fair will be different, will be well staged, and will provide entertainment en-tertainment and pleasure for every person in the state. |
