Mrs. Barrows feels that the time and talents of women are being subjected to ever-increasing wartime responsibilities, and ! that women are therefore seek- ; ing props to increase their physi- i ct'.i and mental fUness Short cuts advocated by the specialist are as follows: (1) take time to plan a good work program, pro-gram, one which will distribute responsibilities between all family fam-ily members; (2) cancel all tasks tha can not be truthfully justified; justi-fied; (3) group routine tasks so that you move almost automatically automa-tically from one job to another; (4) arrange equipment, materials materi-als and supplies within easy reach and near their point of most frequent use; and (5) adjust ad-just working height so that good posture may be assured, as poor posture is often the cause of fatigue fa-tigue and some muscles may be overworked with others underworked. under-worked. Mrs. Barrows continues the points in her work program to include (6) keep equipment in good working condition, such as knives and egg beaters which easily get out of good shape; (7) put away everything about the home that requires extra care or upkeep; (8) work out simple methods and stick to them until they become habits; (9) determine deter-mine the speed at which you work best without becoming fussed and hurried; (10) include rest periods in thework program; as a plan for rest is your first weapon of defense; (11) serve simple, nutritious, easy-to-pre-pare meals and follow simple j service practices, emphasizing one-dish meals; (12) take care of your health and do not be banded as "one who enjoyes ill health;" (14) take safety precautions in everything you do, remembering the saying that "haste makes waste." |
