Show Says Soviet Will Fight Japan In a New Year's message to the Chinese legislature, Sun Fo, Presir dent of the Yuan, expresses the belief that Germany will be knocked out by the summer of this year and that "when the time comes, our ally, the Soviet Union, will turn her forces to the East and participate in the war against Japan." The Legislator talked of post-was post-was peace in Asia as a result of the close collaboration between China and the Soviet Union. He gave six reasons for their good neighborliness and collaboroa-tion: collaboroa-tion: (1) Both China and the Soviet Union are building their nations on revolutionary principles and have always been sympathetic with each other. (2) Both China and the Soviet Union are peace-loving and op posed to aggression. (3) Both are countries with vast territories and abundant resources, re-sources, and, apart from recovering recover-ing their lost territorities, have no territorial ambitions. (4l Both maintain friendly relations re-lations wifh the great democracies democra-cies Great Britain and the U-nited U-nited States and will continue to cooperate with them after the war. (5) After the war, both will engage in rehabilitation and reconstruction. re-construction. (6) Both are fighting and rebuilding re-building under the guidance of great leaders. The reasons advanced by Sun Fo for the cooperation of Soviet Piussia and his own country are solid and substantial. They have more basis, perhaps, than his prophecy that the Soviet Union will enter the war against Japan. At any rate, his statements seem to deny persistent reports of tension and disagreement between be-tween Soviet Russia and China in regard to territorial and political politi-cal questions. |
