Show FOUNTAIN GREEN i ! Bv Special Correspondence 1 79:h Birthday Honored The family of Mrs. Mary E. Draper honored their mother on her 79th birthday anniversary, Sunday, Jan. 9th. They spent the afternoon and evening with her, and remembered her with many beautiful gifts. Mrs. Draper was born Jan. 9, 1865 at Fountain Green, the daughter of Joshua and Fannie Bailey Coombs, early English pioneers. She was married to the late Edward Draper Jan. 27, 18S3. She had eight children, six of whom are living: Mrs. Martha D. Edler, Mrs. Marie D. Peterson, Mrs. Agnes D. Oldroyd and Aury Draper of Fountain Green, Mrs. Ethel D. Jackson of Midvale, and Mr. Everet C.Dra-per C.Dra-per of Salt Lake City. There are 17 grandchildren and 12 greatgrandchildren. great-grandchildren. M;s. Draper is the oldest woman living here at the present time who was born in Fountain Green. Fountain Green Posts Filled City appointments for the ensuing en-suing term of the- new council, which started last week were announced by Mayor Lyman Seely, who has begun his term as head of the city affairs. Richard R. Pearmain will serve as City Marshal; Clifton Hansen was reappointed City Sexton; Niels E. Mikkleson as Justice of the Peace and Attorney Leland Larsen was appointed as Cit. Attornev. The City Administration is composed of Mayor Lyman Seely, Paul Madsen, four-year councilman; council-man; L. Edward Nielson, holdover hold-over councilman; Bardell Col-lard, Col-lard, Howard Stilwell and Neko-lie Neko-lie Mikkleson, two-year council-men. council-men. B.idal Tea Given Mr. and Mrs. Irvin Oldroyd gave a Bridal Tea in honor of their daughter, Mrs. Mont K. Jensen, a recent bride,-at their home Sunday, January 9th from 2 to 6 p. m. Assisting with the guests, seving and gifts were: Miss Hazel Ha-zel Jensen, Miss Francene Mor-ley Mor-ley and Miss Ida Blackham of Moroni. Miss Dora Hansen, Miss Edna Cook, Miss Mary Ellen Oldroyd, Old-royd, I.Irs. Libby Hansen, Mrs. Ora Mayer of Fountain Green, and Mrs. Pearl Baldwin of Salt Lake City. The Home Economics Club elected its new officers for. the doming year at meeting "held Friday, January 7th in the Municipal Muni-cipal Hall. Those elected were Mrs. PearLHolman, president; Mrs. Nora Johnson, secretary and and treasurer; Mrs. Rhoda Robertson Rob-ertson and Mrs. Vera Johnson as counselors to the president; Mrs Lillian E. Snow, chorister anc Mrs. Martha D. Edler as chair man of the serving committee. The outgoing officers were: Mrs. Maggie Frandsen, president; Mrs. Cleo Johnson, Mrs. Martha D. Edler and Mrs. Lottie Bills. Mr. and Mrs. Averill Larsen and family of Manti visited in Fountain Green this week end. Mrs. John J. Oldroyd was hostess host-ess to members of the Elite Club Thursday of last week. A delightful de-lightful afternoon was spent and a hot chicken dinner was served j to Mrs. Anna Cook, Mrs. Lillian E. Snow, Mrs. Lena Johnson, Mrs. Kate Holman and Mrs. Martha D. Edler. Mrs. Kenna Rasmussen left this week for Florida where she expects to stay for some time with her husband, Mr. Victor Rasmussen, Ras-mussen, who is in the armed forces and is stationed at Camp Murphy, Florida. Mrs. Pearl Baldwin of Salt Lake City is a guest at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Irvin Oldroyd. Mr. and Mrs. Arthur Pearmain of Salt ake City were visitors this week at the home of their 1 father and mother, Mr. and Mrs. Richard R. Pearmain. Three Representatives oi ine Utah State Agricultural College Extension Service were principal speakers at a meeting held Jan. 5th in the Municipal Hall. Mr. R. L. Wrigley, Assistant Director of the State Extension Service and Mr. Alma Esplin, Extension Ex-tension Sheep and Wool Specialist Special-ist discussed the 1944 goals of production for crops and livestock, live-stock, and methods of efficiently reaching these goals. Miss Elna Miller, Extension Nutritionist discussed Home Management Practices contributing contribu-ting most toward the war effort. |
