The eastern east-ern red cedar is the ; only . species spe-cies being added this year. Its unusual hardiness and rapid growth makes it a very suitable tree for establishing a permanent windbreak wind-break around faxm buildings. The farm forest tree distribution project is a federal and state cooperative coop-erative program. Through the provisions pro-visions of the Clarke-McNary law the federal government, provides one half toe funds necessary to produce and distribute young forest trees to agriculturists throughout the cooperating "state. : This makes it possible for Utah farmers to obtain trees for their purposes at a very nominal price. Trees are grown in a nursery that has been established and managed man-aged under the supervision of the school of forestry at the Utah State Agricultural College, Mr. Floyd said. Since the trees are practically all grown in the state, very good survival has been had from previous years' plantings.. All farmers in the state who are intersted in the planting of trees should see their county agent or write to the Extension Service at the State College. |
