Show Sacking of Washington The most publicized action of the British troops which invaded the Capital during the War of 1312 was the burning of the Executive Mansion, Man-sion, which since has been termed the White House. This, however, was only part of the destruction of the occupation. Oiler public buildings to be destroyed by fire included in-cluded the Capitol, the Slate and Navy buildings and th? Treasury. A number of private homes were sr-t afire and burncrl dv.vn as well.
