Show Joseph Larson Honored by DUP Last Sunday Night The evening church service in Manila Ward last Sunday was arranged and conducted by Manila Man-ila Camp DUP. Feature of the program was honoring Joseph Larson, 91, native pioneer of this area. Tribute to the life and untiring efforts of Mr. Larson was given by Captain Cora Atwood, Manila Camp, who urged younger generation gener-ation to honor and respect the man who since early childhood has done so much to help build our comm unity. The honored pioneer then sang "I Know That My Redeemer Lives," accompanied by his daughter, Velma Rasmussen of Provo. Mre. Lucile H. Walker talked on early activities in Manila Ward, then called the North Field and also gave a brief history of its early schools. Mrs. Arza Adams gave a musical mu-sical reading, accompanied by Mrs. Lucy Haycock. Their number num-ber was "This Lovely Land of Utah," by Irwin Jensen. H. S. Walker talked of early days in Manila and told of incidents in the life of his grandfather, Knud Swenson, first bishop of Manila. After the services, everyone, especially the younger people, were invited to come forward and shake hands and meet Mr. Larson. |
