Show City Council Sets Tax Levy at Monday Meeting At a City Council meeting held Monday night the 1959 tax levy was set at 26 mills, the same as for 1958. A breaKdown of the levy for the various city purposes is as follows: Contingent Expense, 5.00 mills; Water Supplies and Water Works 2.00 mills; Water ptuifioation and Sewage, 2.00 mills; Streets and Sidewalks, 5.00 mills; Parks and Public Property, 5 25 mills; Public Pub-lic Affairs and Finance, 2.00 mills; Construction and Maintenance Mainten-ance of specified utilities, 2.00; Public Safety, 5.00; Recreation, 0.75 mills and Public Library 1.00 mills. Total 26.0 mills. According to City Recorder Millen D. Radimall, the levies in all major categories are up to the maximum allowed under state law. Also at Monday night's meeting meet-ing Ford M. Paulson was appointed appoint-ed chairman of the City Shade Tree Commission. Mr. Paulson was given the authority to select two assistants to serve with him on the commission; subject to approval of the City Council. Nile Washburn, representing Saratoga Resort, met with the Mayor and Council members relative rel-ative to the promotion of a "Pleasant Grove Day" at the resort. re-sort. After some discussion the matter mat-ter was tabled pending further investigation of the inducements the resort would offer if the community-wide outing was approved ap-proved and organized. |
