Show Pleasant Grove Slates Pre -Christmas Events With 100 per cent of Pleasant i Grove's businessmen, contractors, and professional men cooperating, the local pre-Christmas activities will get underway on Saturday, Dec. 8 with a parade through the business section. According to Junius Jun-ius A. West, president of the As- sociaiaeu rsusinessmen ui Pleasant Grove, a 96-picce Military Band from Fort Douglas will head the parade scheduled to get underway at 2 p.m. Santa Claus of course will be on hand too. The Jayoees will turn on the Christmas lights in the evening. even-ing. "As a stimulus to the 'buy it at home' program, 25 or 30 turkeys will be given a-way a-way free to holders of lucky tickets. One half of the number num-ber of prize birds will be awarded at special drawings on Saturday, Dec. 15 and the remaining one-half on Saturday, Satur-day, Dec. 22. Each dollar spent for purchases in any of Pleasant Grove's business houses will entitle the holder to one chance on a prime Christmas turkey," Mr. West said. Tickets will be available at the stores cn and after the opening day, Dec. 8. During the pre-Christmas shopping shop-ping days Santa Claus will visit local stores to consult with the small fry regarding their desires relative to Christmas presents. As an artistic aid to the celebration cele-bration carolers from schools and churches are currently being invited in-vited to sing throughout the business busi-ness section and in the places of business. As an added feature of the Dec. 8 opening festival, the local U.S. Army Reserve Unit will hold open-house open-house at their new headquarters at 25 West Center. |
