Show Career Day Is Planned by P.G. Counselors As competition becomes increasingly increas-ingly keen in our highly mechanized mechan-ized industrial world, the need for early determination of vocational choices becomes more and more evident. Not infrequently work is decided decid-ed on because of immediate need, with little thought of natural interest, in-terest, preparation, or of what the situation holds for the future development de-velopment and advancement. An important part of our counseling coun-seling and guidance program is a personal interview with each eleventh elev-enth and twelfth grade student, in which a careful review of his cumulative cum-ulative record is made. This cumulative record is purely pure-ly objective; test results which show mental ability, scholastic achievement, personality problems vocational interests, and manipulative manipula-tive factors. We feel sure that if the parent, student, and counselor counsel-or give this matter careful consideration con-sideration in conference discussion, it will result in directing vocational vocation-al choices well made by the student. stu-dent. Very satisfactory interviews have been held with nearly all of the twelfth grade students so far this year. Our testing program is completed, and we plan to meet eleventh grade students for vocational voca-tional counseling and registration on an individual basis beginning very soon. We invite parents to be present at these interviews. In order to stimulate more interest in-terest in early vocational choices, we are planning a career day; the principal feature of this will be group discussion directed by some specialist in each of the chosen fields of work.
