Show Search Started foi Outstanding Utah County Citizens A search for one cr more outstanding out-standing citizens of Utah County is being launched this week, ac- . cording to Leo Meredith, member . of the Special Awards committee. . Mr. Meredith explainer! the details of the project as follows: A search has been started to 1 find the person or persons that are to receive the Annual Citizen Awards, to be presented at the Patriotic Sen-ices in Provo, Sunday, Sun-day, June 30th at the beginning of the annual Fourth of July cele- : bration program. These awards are presented each year to one or more outstanding scouts, seouters or other citizens in Utah County, based bas-ed upon character, civic and church service, and leadership within their group. The award is a medial and a citation. cita-tion. This year the presentations will be made by Utah Secretary of State Lamont F. Toronto. Any citizen or group may nominate nom-inate a candidate to be considered to receive one cf these awards, final fin-al selection of the person or persons per-sons to be honored is in the hands of the Special Awards Committee appointed by the Provo Fourth of July Committee for his purpose. You may nominate a person to receive re-ceive this honor by presenting proper written data to the committee com-mittee in parson or by mail, care of Utah National Parks Boy Scout Office, 174 East 3rd South, Provo. The Scout Office has available nominating forms that you may use, or you may make nomination nomina-tion by letter, using your own station sta-tion ery. The nominees must be outstanding outstand-ing In qualifications of good character, char-acter, service to 'their community commun-ity or church, or leadership within with-in their own group. An act of heroism may indicate a possible basis for selection, but the awards are not confined to individuals qualifying in this category. For the puipose of efficient operation op-eration and the ability to consider the greatest number of our youth and adult leaders ,the Utah National Nation-al Parks Council District organization organi-zation is cooperating to nominate candidates. Each of the eleven Scout Districts within the County is asked to participate. All other groups and citizens are also encouraged en-couraged to submit the names and qualifications of outstanding candidates can-didates they know. The candidate may be a boy, a girl, a man or a woman. Nominations must be in the Scout Office by June 17. |
