Show Orem Defeats PG in Central Utah Opener Pleasant Grove's Central Utah Baseball team officially opened their season Tuesday night at the P.G. ball park with a defeat handed hand-ed them by a hustling Orem team. The game was a well played contest con-test with Orem lending up on top by a 4 to 2 count. Although PG get the most hits they could not push them around for the muohneeded runs and several sev-eral times they were retired with the bases, loaded. PG got 11 hits while Orem was able to come through with only 5. Three big runs by Orem in the first inning on three errors by the Gravers proved to be the winning win-ning margin. Starting pitcher for Orem was Ferguson, who was replaced in the 7th inning by Blackham, When Pleasant Grove, starting late, had a short rally. Pitching for Pleasant Grove was Doug Hoopes, with Doug Robinson doing the catching. Hoopes struck out 10 Orem batters while allowing allow-ing 5 hits. Big hitters for PG were Darrell Harper, Jerry Robinson, Doug Robinson Rob-inson and Gordon Casper. Casper, a new face on the PG team, made several outstandig fielding plays in the game. PG's next game will be at Lehi Friday afternoon at 5:30. PG has beaten Lehi in a practice game earlier this season by 6 to 1. This should be a very close game. PG will play all of their home games at 8:00 on Tuesday evenings. |
