Show ! Summer Ends on September 23 Says Almanac According to the Farmers Almanac, Al-manac, summer came officially to ' an end on Tuesday, Sept. 23. And ! much as we have complained about the heat and arid conditions of 'the last three months, the summer of 1958 bowed out with almost perfect perfect weather conditions. Warm days, cool nights, a bright sun, low humidity and just enough breeze to rustle the yellowing leaves. That's weather that is hard to beat, even in Pleasant Grove, where harsh extremes are seldom experienced. If you haven't taken a ride thru the canyons lately, do so at once. The coloring is at its peak. If you have the time, drive up Spanish Pork Canyon as far as Thistle. This grand autumn leaf display is not only vivid and spectacular; but there is so much of it. Better hurry though, since the colors fade rapidly. rap-idly. Sportsmen are casting wistful eyes toward the mountains in anticipation an-ticipation of the October deer hunt. Many are in the depths of indecision, indeci-sion, whether to use the "old shoot-in' shoot-in' iron" another year, or to cough up the long green for a newfangled new-fangled beauty. Could be in many cases the Little Woman will be forced to forget the automatic dishwasher for some time to come. Anyway you look at it, "necessities" come before the "luxuries." Predictions for the weekend are favorable. Looks like more of the same, with partly cloudy skies and a slight chance of rain.
