Show I Square Dancers to Hold Festival in Provo Oct. 3 and 4 Hundreds of square dancers from all over the United States and Canada will arrive in Prove Oct. 3 and 4 for the seventh annual intermountain square dance festival festi-val benefit, according to T. Rand (Randy) Stephens, festival chairman. chair-man. "Provo will this year play host to the two-day event, proceeds of which are turned over to the society so-ciety for crippled children and adults in ithe area where the annual an-nual festival is held. "The Central Utah Unit of the Utah Society for Crippled Children and Adults is trying to organize a sheltered workshop in Provo for the handicapped in five counties Utah, Juab, Wasatch, Nebo and Sanpete. We hope the public will share our enthusiasm and help augment aug-ment the money we will turn over to that cause," states the chairman. chair-man. Last year's proceeds were turned turn-ed over to the Salt Lake crippled children. Beginning Friday, Oct. 3, at 2:30 p.m., the first event of the two-day two-day schedule will feature Frank and Carolyn Hamilton who will feature a "round clinic" in the Eldred Recreation Center, First West and First South. Friday night at 8:30 p.m. will be the opening-Howdy opening-Howdy Dance with Bob Van Antwerp Ant-werp doing the calling. Saturday's events begin with a Ranch breakfast at Parks' Cafe in Orem at 8 a.m. after which a morning morn-ing clinic of squares and rounds will begin at 9:30 a.m. at the recreation rec-reation center in Provo. Another squares and rounds clinic will begin be-gin at 2:30 p.m. in the center with Bob Van Antwerp and the Ham-iltons Ham-iltons calling. A come and g'o chuck wagon dinner is listed from 5:30 until 7 p.m. at the St. Francis Catholic School, 931 East 3rd North. From 7:30 to 8:30 p.m. there will be a review of the New Round dances taught during the previous clinics. The big festival prize dance will begin at 8:30 p.m. in the East Provo Stake House, 85 South, 9th East, during which time numerable door prizes will be given to per- sons attending. |
