Show 4-H Members Win Honors At Utah State Fair Again numerous honors came to Manila Dairy clubs at the Utah State Fair, held in Salt Lake. The Utah county Holstein herd, selected and sent from Manila to ' represent .the county in competition with seven competing herds, won third place, the highest rating achieved by this county in years. The animals belonged to Merrill N. Warnick and his children, Eldredge, Robert and Irene, and to Wilford W. Warnick and sons Charles and Lee. In the 4-H club division, the Manila Ma-nila clubs represented Utah county very well with three demonstration teams. Two of the clubs a boys' dairy club including Eldredge and Lee Warnick, and a girls clothing club with Beverly West and Gloria Wadley were guests of the Fair board at the Newhouse Hotel for several days. The former club won second place in the dairy contest, and the latter, honorable mention. The boys club demonstrated the feeding of calves on a home-grown grain ration, and won second place in all breeds of 4-H calf clubs shown. The girls' clothing club demonstrated demon-strated color to suit all types. The girls' dairy club showed "What's in a Bottle of Milk." The First year clothing club exhibit ex-hibit of the club led by Delia Radmall, Rad-mall, sent also to represent Utah county, received a blue ribbon. Entries En-tries were home costumes by Beth. Radmall and Ruby Jeppson; hot pot holders, Gwen Ackerman and Beth Radmall; club books, Reba Hahn and Ruby Jeppson; and darning, Reba Hahn and Lura Mae Bame. In the dairy club Eldredge Warnick War-nick won second place on a pure bred Holstein calf ; Robert Warnick received class B on a two year old heifer; Eldredge and Irene received class B on senior yearling heifers; Lee Warnick received class A and B on two heifer calves. |
