Show Drouth Well To Be Sunk Immediately Work on the drilling of a large 14-inch well for the American Fork Irrigation company will commence either tomorrow or the first of the week, it is announced by officials of the local irrigation company. Funds for the project are to be provided by the state drouth committee. com-mittee. The irrigation board authorized auth-orized the work done at a meeting Wednesday evening and the site was selected by Mr. Watson, state drouth relief committee geologist, and later was approved by the irrigation irri-gation company officials. Negociations are under way with Terris and Gardner, well driving contractors of San Jose, California, who have completed two large wells at Lehi and are now just finishing the third. It is expected that the contract for the job at a fixed price per foot will be signed today. The well will be completed in from five to seven days it is promised. They plan to sink the pipe upwards of 200 feet. Arrangements have already been made to borrow enough pipe from Lehi to start drilling so that no wait will be necessary while pipe is coming. com-ing. The well will be located just above the weir at the old Robinson Mill site and when the flow is pumped it will be dumped into the system just above the dividing weir. This will give the entire distribution system an additional quantity of water right at the head of the ditches. It is expected that the well, pipe and driving, will cost about $3,000. |
