Show Extra Thrill Had At Holiday Fire Works Display There was intense excitement for a moment or two among the throng of spectators gathered at the city park on the evening of July 24th when a spark from one of the set pieces dropped into a box of other fireworks and set them off. The firemen were in charge of the setting off of the display and the spark fell from overhead over-head and behind them Into where the box stood. Sky rockets whizzed at dizzy angles through the air and colored lights burst into all directions. direc-tions. The seven weeks old child of Mr. and Mrs. Davis Boley which lay in its buggy received a badly burned mouth and severe cut on the cheek. The clothing over its chest and stomach stom-ach was burned away a.nd minor burns inflicted on its abdomen. Bill, small son of Mr. and Mrs. George Pierce had the hah- on one side of his head singed off and the skin scraped from his cheek as one of the missiles tore by. Several other persons per-sons report minor burns. Considering the dense crowd and the closeness of the spectators to the scene, it is a wonder no 6erious accident ac-cident occured. The children were rushed to the office of Dr. J. F. Noyes and given immediate attention. atten-tion. Tetanus serum was administered admin-istered to prevent lock-jaw. In all fairness to the firemen whom some may be inclined to censure for carelessness, it may be said , that Chief Pratt through his megaphone gave warning that persons who stood too close to the grounds were in danger and he asked the crowd to go across the street or stand at such a distance that no one might be im- periled. People backed off for a few minutes but gradually closed in. iHalf the crowd enjoyed the display from the lawns of the tabernacle or stood farther out in the street.
